In November 2012, my son and I took a trip to Rapid City, South Dakota, to videotape the setting of my book.
On the way to The Pine Ridge Reservation, we stopped at Mount Rushmore, drove through the Badlands, and White Clay, Nebraska.
We stayed at Hotel Alex Johnson in Downtown Rapid City. Across the street is The Prairie Edge Gallery, Main Street Square, and Art Alley.
The Animoto video below consists of photos of the small plane we took to Rapid City, the Badlands, Pine Ridge, our visit to Red Cloud Indian School with Vernell White Thunder, Wounded Knee, The Journey Museum, and Mount Rushmore.
At last, I can see Kala country. 🙂

I love South DaKota. Wish I could have seen this while reading the book, it would have put a whole new light on it.

It’s so sad that the Native American Indians have to be moved off their lands and pushed around for the sake of the governments and for profit.
